Almost the whole day today I've been reciting a particular song in my head for no reason whatsoever. It has something catchy to it.

I first came across it when I was watching the "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" series' final episode.

Some variation to the original tune by me:

Mir wurde mehrfach gesagt, ich solle doch auch mal deutsche Artikel verfassen. Da ich den größten Teil meiner Zeit mit englischen Texten verbringe, hat sich bisher nicht wirklich die Gelegenheit ergeben.

Nun allerdings muss ich meine Meinung loswerden. Die Deutschen tendieren Sachen bis ins äußerste zu Überdramatisieren.

Vor kurzem hatte ein guter Freund mich auf einen Artikel bei Spiegel Online verwiesen, in dem es darum ging, dass ein Mann eine einzige daumengroße Giftkraut "Kreuzkraut" in einer Rucola-Salatschale fand und es einem örtlichem Arbeitskreis mitteilte.

Der örtliche Verein teilte es der Medien mit, und wie ein Lauffeuer mutierte es in kurzer Zeit zur Hiobsbotschaft. Die daraus entstehende Resonanz war verheerend. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit verschwand das "Gestrüpp des Grauens", wie Spiegel Online es passend titulierte, aus ganz vielen Läden. Niemand kaufte mehr Rucola, Bauern erlitten Schäden in Millionenhöhen. Alles nur wegen einer einziger daumengroßer Kraut!

Das Schlimmste an der Sache ist aber, dass der gute Mann, der das Giftkraut entdeckte, die Schale vorher geöffnet hat, und dann erst  zur Bestätigung an den örtlichen Arbeitskreis geschickt hat. Wer kann also beweisen, dass der Mann nicht daran gepfuscht hat? Ich unterstelle dem Mann nichts, sehe es allerdings mit Skepsis.

Die Dramatik, oh die Dramatik! Passend zu der Dramatik fiel mir das Lied von Marx Augustin ein (eine leicht veränderte Fassung von mir):

Ein anderer Artikel, das mir in den Augen gestochen ist, die Hamsterkäufe der Glühbirnen (oder Glühlampen um mal korrekt zu sein). Gut, mittlerweile ist der Artikel aktualisiert worden, und genau das untermauert meiner Meinung. (Was ist den los, verbrauchen die Leute 1 Birne pro Woche?!)

Wo man am Anfang panisch mit einem lautem "PANIK PANIK AB HEUTE GLÜHBIRNEN VERBOT SCHNELL KAUFEN KAUFEN SONST IST ENDE GELÄNDE!" reagierte, ist mittlerweile nur noch ein flüsterndes "Ah, das war doch nix..." daraus geworden.

Der letzte Artikel der mich an den Blogtitel erinnerte ging um die Wahlen in Saarland und einen Keramikhersteller der drohte auszuwandern, wenn in Saarland eine Rot-Rot-Grüne Regierung zustande käme.

Gut, Politik ist kein Thema wo man mal sagt "Ah, das war doch nix...", das kann fatale Folgen haben, wie wir in der Vergangenheit gelernt haben. Aber bitte, gleich mit Pauken und Posaunen, Dramatik und diesem Erpresser-Verhalten?

I just finished watching "V for Vendetta" (again) in 720p HD , still an amazing movie. I can only recommend it. There are two things which I pretty much liked more than the whole movie. The first was the the scene before the first explosion in which V was reciting the following:

The poem is about the famous failed Gunpowder Plot in 1605, in which Catholics tried to blown up the Parliament with King James I of England and VI of Scotland, his family and most of the Protestant aristocracy inside it.

I love poems recited in movies when and if they are fitting the moment. Which is also why I love the one scene with Captain James T. Kirk where he recites Hamlet to Q ("What a piece of work is man..").

The other scene I loved is where V introduced himself to Evey:

In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate.

This visage, no mere veneer of vanity is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished.

In a nutshell "V for Vendetta" is about a totalitarian governed Great Britain by the right-wing fascist Norsefire party. V, the movie protagonist, is an anarchist whose only goal is the total abolishment of the totalitarian government and and the death of former detention camp employees by any means necessary.

No, it's not going to be better this month! The biggest reason: WordPress 2.8 is out! And I'm swamped with work and more work!

I have to scrap the addons, check the (addons) code, re-check the (addons) code, debug the (addons) code, adjust the (addons) code. I simply have no time for it.

Yes, I could leave it be as it is. But I'm one of the curious ones who need to be up-to-date with software.

I'll throw in a post here and there come end of June, but that's it! Sorry for the inconvenience folks, truly I am!

Microblogging, almost everybody on the internet is aware of this new trend. As am I. I too am using Twitter and Identi.ca, Identi.ca primarily.

Identi.ca because I can link my Twitter account to Identi.ca and post only on Identi.ca to make my notices (identi.ca) also apear as tweets on Twitter.

The question, when I heard about such microblogging services, I asked myself was when should I be using it.

Then I looked at my blog and thought about it. It ain't that bad if you think about it.

I use Twitter and Identi.ca for distributing interesting links I stumble across while surfing  and the occasional, unsubstantial notice/tweet.

So why would I waste a whole lot of blog space when I can put the links in 140 characters. Sure I can collect the links and present them in weekly or daily blog posts, but then it'll be lacking something only the microblogging services offer: immediateness (huh, that's some strange word I came up with).

You see microblogging services, unlike personal blogs, are available and know to millions of people. While I have to promote my blog to gain users, on Twitter and Identi.ca there already are millions of users ready to read.

When I share a link it becomes, on Identi.ca at least, visible to everybody right the second I posted it. (On Twitter you have to be registered and following me in order to immediately get the tweet I just posted!).

Microblogging services, they are great, ain't they? What say you, dear reader?

One year until the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada starts. I'm exited. I love the Olympic Games, summer and winter likewise.

So I wanted to see how the logo designs evolved from the very first Winter Games over the years.

The designs appear to have changed from monochromatic colors and design to multicolor ones.
The logo design seem to take on the trend to simpler and cleaner colors and shapes. Take a look at the logos from Winter Olympic Games 1924 till 2010.
